The Preschool provides child care for 3 to 5 year old children. The academic year runs from September through May. We follow the Madison Metropolitan School District's schedule with regard to vacation and convention days off. We have two classrooms, a 3/4 year old room and a 4/5 year old room. Our Tuesday/Thursday afternoon classroom is blended ages, 3, 4, & 5 year olds in one classroom. There are four sessions offered to meet the needs and convenience of both parents and children. Also offered is a less structured four week Summer Program. The tuition is reasonable and the quality is exceptional. Registration begins in February.
We now offer a PM option of Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday from 12:30-3:30PM , as well as Tuesday/Thursday 12:30-3:30PM. We hope this option will work for those families that desire PM preschool but would like an additional day for more kindergarten readiness. The ages offered will remain 3, 4 and 5 years old.
The second option we are offering is for an extended day. The morning preschool schedule will remain unchanged, but for those of you that need additional child care coverage, we will extend our day until 3:30PM Monday through Friday. After morning preschool, the day would look something like this: lunch bunch, mandatory 1-hour rest time, free choice, snack and art project and outside time. This extended option would be open for either classroom, however at this point would probably blend the 3, 4 and 5 year olds in one classroom. For those that just need the extended day of Lunch Bunch, it will still be offered.

St. Bernard Catholic Preschool is designed to promote the emotional,
social, spiritual, cognitive and physical development of each child.
We focus on creating a warm and accepting environment which contributes
to the development of a positive self-esteem as well as encouraging
cooperation and interaction among children.
Skills to enhance independence, self-reliance and problem solving will be developed.
A variety of learning situations will be provided to stimulate
creativity and encourage exploration and investigation of the
environment. There will be opportunities for both gross and fine motor
development in both indoor and outdoor settings.
We feel that a molding and mixing of a friendly, secure, warm and safe
atmosphere is conducive to the continued healthy development of
children.

As important as early childhood programs are, parents are the most
important people in the lives of young children. A goal of St. Bernard
Catholic Preschool is to work with parents to prepare the child for
successful future school experiences. In order to achieve this, a close
relationship will be maintained between school and home. Communication
between parents and staff is an integral part of our program.
It is our goal to help each child become a productive, healthy and
self-motivated individual who is happy and secure. Our program
emphasizes an awarness of values and a positive self-image and skills
for communicating with both adults and children. We help children to
develop to their fullest potential in several developmental areas.

Admission to preschool is open to any child(ren) who is 3 years old by
the date they start preschool and who is successfully toilet trained.
Younger children may be admitted after screening by the director and
consultation with the parents on an individual basis provided the child

the basis of race, color, sex, creed, or sexual orientation. The
program is non-denominational and therefore open to all families.
