After making some air fryer pickle chips, I wanted more! I mean, it’s hard to stop eating them when they have the perfect crispy breading and the sour zing from vinegar.

It’s perfection, it really is. So I added some cheese and altered the spices a bit and now I have some keto fried pickles that my kids steal all the time.

Typically when things are deep-fried, they are coated with white flour, breadcrumbs, or crackers. In order to keep this keto-friendly, I used a combination of almond flour and pork rinds.

Pork rinds add the classic crunchy exterior that you love about fried foods. The almond flour gives the pickles more protein and helps the breading resemble white flour.

To get the best results, I suggest crushing the pork rinds up really well, into crumbs that are so fine they blend in with the almond flour.Remember to use almond flour, not almond meal. Blanched almond flour will give you the smoothest texture without graininess.

Homemade Keto Fried Pickles

If you want your fried pickles to have a bit of a kick, then I suggest using spicy pickle chips. Still not spicy enough? Add some red pepper flakes to the almond flour. Your mouth will light up!

I love to make a big batch and store them in the refrigerator so I have them whenever I am feeling snacky. Keep them in an airtight container. They will stay fresh in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

If you want to make it easier to clean up the air fryer, place some foil on the inside of it. Or, use non-stick spray. I have a metal pie pan that fit in my air fryer basket, so I put the breaded pickles on that and it turned out perfectly.

Don’t forget to flip the pickles over halfway through cooking. This will help them fry evenly on both sides.

Or if you want something spicy, dip the air fried pickles into some jalapeno dipping sauce. (I know, that dip recipe is on a non-keto recipe post. The sauce itself is low-carb so you can use it with your fried pickles).

Or keep it super-simple and dip them into sour cream or some melted cheddar cheese. If you have a favorite queso recipe, use it. I love this queso and sausage dip and it’s perfect to serve with the pickles.
