Jeff & Alex were wonderful in replaning my mom's funeral. She had preplanned arrangements but because of the weather a lot of last minute changes. . Thank you for helping me with this. You both are fantastic.

One evening in October, I called Jeff Petersen, of Overton’s Funeral home, to inform him that my dear husband, of 56 years had just passed. We were in Rochester, Mn. and Jeff was the first person, I had thought to call. He was very kind and helpful and explained what I needed to do to get my husband, Mahlon, back home, to Indianola. Even though we were far from home, talking with Jeff made me feel not so all alone.
The morning of my husband’s visitation, I awoke ill and tested positive with Covid. That evening,at the visitation, the Petersen’s were there with our four children, to help them through a most difficult time, when I wasn’t able to attend.
Again, the next day, at Mahlon’s service and lunch in, the Petersen’s saw to it that our family was well taken care of and gave them all the support and guidance they needed.
Even after Mahlon’s service, our family has not been forgotten. On December 3, 2023, our family attended a remembrance service, for all the families, who’s loved ones had passed in 2023. It was inspirational and comforting, to our family. We were, also, given a crystal keepsake ornament.
Our family was truly appreciative to the Petersen’s and their employees at Overton Funeral home, for their caring and thoughtfulness, much like being a member of their family.

The Edwin Henry Family felt such compassion and care of our loved ones when Overton Funeral Home helped us celebrate the lives of Allen Henry and then Ruth Henry. Their attention to detail and our hurting hearts was beyond “just a job!” These people became family to us. May God continue to equip them to be able to help other families as they have helped us. ❤

Jeff was so helpful at a time when we were operating on auto-pilot. He took what we knew of Dad's wishes and helped us fill in the rest--from the beautiful casket we chose to the delicious Funaro's cookies at the visitation. By the time we left that initial planning meeting, Jeff had set everything in motion to help us honor Dad's wishes.

Our experience with Overton was due to my Mother's passing. They treated us with compassion and my Mother's remains with dignity. The experience for Overton was new, as they had never completed a Serbian Orthodox funeral and their understanding of the funeral process was very appreciated at a time when emotions play a huge role in life. Thank you to Overton and especially Alex as he handled my Mother's remains with tremendous respect in getting her put to rest as we wished.

I can't imagine a better experience than what we have had with Jeff & Mary Peterson and the staff at Overton Funeral Home. They helped us with every detail, from pre-planning, to a beautiful video tribute to last minute special touches for the graveside service. All along the way, Jeff has been warm and caring as well as extremely professional. Extremely thankful they are here to serve our community.
